Childhood Obesity National Community Based Plan managed by The McCarron Group

The McCarron Group is proud to announce it’s collaborative work with Shaping America’s Youth (SAY), a non-profit organization focused on childhood obesity on a ground breaking study that has been published online in the American Academy of Pediatrics. The McCarron Group was the managing partner and provided the overall management and organizational structure for conducting this multi-year research and community plan process. SAY utilized the medical and research expertise from The McCarron Group which recruited experts to create and conduct an online survey and participate in a national town hall meeting process which engaged citizens throughout this country to discuss how to prevent childhood obesity at a community level. The results of the meetings were analyzed from the citizens’ recommendations in the five meetings and published in the journal, American Academy of Pediatrics. These findings will serve as the foundation for a national Community Based Plan of Action. The mission of the project was to assure the voices of families and communities are integrated into local and national policy to improve the nutrition, physical activity and health of children and Youth. The McCarron Group contracted with AmericaSpeaks to conduct the large scale meetings.

The McCarron Group specializes in providing medical experts for health and nutrition issues as well as providing design, management and execution of research projects. The Shaping America’s Youth plan resulted in bringing together stakeholders from both the private and public sectors to work together to help develop a scientific and community based model to prevent childhood obesity.
